The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded five grants totaling more than $499,000 under the Healthy Kids Priority Area – IGNITE Initiative. New Mexico State University’s (NMSU) Dietetic Internship Program recently received a grant from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation’s HEAL Initiative to increase the number of qualified registered dietitians/nutritionists in the region.
The overall goal of the grant is to double the number of students accepted and placed in clinical rotation throughout New Mexico. Thanks to work by the YMCA of El Paso (the backbone organization of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation’s Shift+ initiative), El Paso has become a leading city across Texas and the nation for addressing and curbing underage drinking.
