Find Your Path This Fall on the Paso del Norte Trail
October 27, 2025
As autumn paints El Paso in shades of gold and amber, there’s no better time to step outside, breathe in the crisp air, and enjoy the beauty of our Franklin Mountains from the Paso del Norte Trail. Whether you prefer walking, running, or cycling, the trail offers the perfect way to stay active while reconnecting with nature.
The Paso del Norte Trail is a community-driven, county-wide effort to create a continuous, 68-mile trail system across El Paso County. Each of the five trail districts reflects the region’s rich geography, history, and culture, connecting neighborhoods, parks, and landmarks along the way.
Currently, 20 miles are complete, including:
- 8.3 miles of the Playa Drain Trail from Ascarate Park to Capistrano Park
- 10+ miles of the River Trail from Country Club to Borderland
And there’s more to come! With state and federal funding, an additional 28 miles are in design or construction — expanding the trail from Racetrack to Country Club, the Zoo to the Medical Center of the Americas, Capistrano Park to the Zaragoza Bridge, Alameda Avenue to Socorro, and through Fabens and Tornillo.
The Paso del Norte Health Foundation and our community partners — including the City and County of El Paso, TXDOT, El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization, Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority, City of Socorro, City of Sunland Park, and the Paso del Norte Community Foundation — are committed to completing all 68 miles of the trail.
So, grab your walking shoes, pump up your tires, and discover the joy of staying active outdoors this season. Learn more about trail routes, progress, and upcoming events at pasodelnortetrail.org.
