Paso del Norte Health Foundation Invests $3.3 Million for Diabetes Prevention and Management Across the Region
October 19, 2026
The Paso del Norte Health Foundation invested $3,307,746 in grants to 24 organizations and programs to expand diabetes prevention, screening, education and management across the Paso del Norte region, including El Paso, southern New Mexico, and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. The grants support evidence-based community programs that help residents prevent diabetes, manage the disease, and connect with health care and local resources.
These investments put the Foundation’s newly approved 2026–2030 Diabetes Initiative Strategic Plan into action by supporting evidence-based community programs, strengthening diabetes care, and helping residents access prevention services and disease management resources.
In El Paso County, an estimated 15.3% of adults, or approximately 94,000 people, live with diabetes. This rate exceeds the Texas rate of 12.6% and the national rate of 11.3%. Through these investments, the Foundation aims to strengthen community-based diabetes prevention and management and improve health outcomes across the region.
