Paso del Norte Tobacco Control Network Summit on Highlights Emerging Issues on Tobacco, Vaping, and Cannabis

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation and the Paso del Norte Tobacco Control Network will host the 2026 Biennial Summit on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in El Paso, Texas. The summit will explore emerging commercial tobacco and vaping products, highlight local prevention and intervention efforts, and provide regional, national, and binational perspectives on evolving challenges.

The summit will address:

  • Emerging tobacco, nicotine, cannabis, and vaping trends and their impact on communities.

  • Regional differences and shared challenges across Texas, New Mexico, and the U.S.-Mexico border.

  • Current data, research, and lessons learned to strengthen understanding of the evolving landscape.

  • Opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing among practitioners and community partners.

Featured Speaker

The summit will welcome Dr. Brian King, Executive Vice President for U.S. Programs at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, as its keynote speaker. Dr. King previously served as Director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Tobacco Products and held leadership positions with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Office on Smoking and Health. He brings more than 20 years of experience in tobacco prevention and control to this year’s summit.

Certified health educators, certified public health professionals, counselors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, physicians, clinicians, school personnel, law enforcement, community members, and other community practitioners.
