The Paso del Norte Behavioral Health Directory is a comprehensive, regional, and interactive on-line directory developed by UTEP’s Empower Change Center to connect users to available mental and behavioral health services. Each resource listed on the Directory includes general information like name, address, and telephone number along with other key information like payment options accepted, diagnoses treated, and therapy provided, languages providers speaks, and in some cases, a point of contact. One Fund El Paso application deadline approaching

National Compassion Fund staff will be in El Paso November 1-2 to assist with applications for financial assistance from One Fund El Paso in relation to the August 3 mass shooting here.
National Compassion Fund staff will assist with applications from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2 at the El Paso United Community Assistance Center (El Paso County’s Family Youth Services Center) at 6314 Delta. New Grants awarded to engage disconnected youth

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded 10 grants totaling more than $870,000 under the Healthy Kids Priority Area – IGNITE Initiative. The goal of the IGNITE Initiative is to improve a range of health outcomes by engaging disconnected youth in the region in high quality programs during out-of-school hours. The Health Foundation refers to “disconnected youth” as people between the ages of 7-18 who are not involved in out-of-school activities or not working.

Nearly one out of every five members of the Paso del Norte community have a behavioral health disorder and of those nearly 25% are living with serious mental illnesses or substance abuse disorder. While these figures fall in line with other communities, factors such as high levels of individuals with little or no health insurance coverage pose unique challenges in the border region. New Grants to Support Mental Health and Emotional Well-being

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded six grants totaling more than $1.1 million under the Mental Health and Emotional Well-being Priority Area. The Priority Area purpose is to reduce the stigma and negative bias associated with mental illness, and to increase coordination and communication among regional stakeholders to improve the behavioral health system of care.
