National Compassion Fund staff will be in El Paso November 1-2 to assist with applications for financial assistance from One Fund El Paso in relation to the August 3 mass shooting here.

New Grants awarded to engage disconnected youth

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded 10 grants totaling more than $870,000 under the Healthy Kids Priority Area – IGNITE Initiative. The goal of the IGNITE Initiative is to improve a range of health outcomes by engaging disconnected youth in the region in high quality programs during out-of-school hours. The Health Foundation refers to “disconnected youth” as people between the ages of 7-18 who are not involved in out-of-school activities or not working.

New Grants to Support Mental Health and Emotional Well-being

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded six grants totaling more than $1.1 million under the Mental Health and Emotional Well-being Priority Area. The Priority Area purpose is to reduce the stigma and negative bias associated with mental illness, and to increase coordination and communication among regional stakeholders to improve the behavioral health system of care.
