More than $3.5 million awarded in grants to support COVID-19 relief efforts in the region

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation awarded 35 COVID-19 related grants totaling more than $3.5 million under the Health Leadership priority area to help organizations recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, prepare for a second wave or future crisis, and/or transform their operations for future success.

The SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is providing small businesses – including nonprofit organizations - with the resources to maintain their payroll, hire back employees who may have been laid off, and cover applicable overhead/administrative expenses.
Small businesses and eligible nonprofit organizations, Veterans organizations, and Tribal businesses described in the Small Business Act, as well as individuals who are self-employed or are independent contractors, are eligible if they also meet program size standards.

Health Foundation announces New Board Officers, Members

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation is pleased to announce the election of Lisa Saenz as Chair and Charles de Wetter as Vice-Chair for the 2021 Health Foundation Board of Directors. Ms. Saenz has served on the board since 2015, serving as Vice-Chair and Chair of the Finance, Audit and IT Committee. Ms. Saenz is Executive Vice President-CFO for WestStar Bank. Mr. de Wetter joined the board in 2015. He served as the Chair of the Allocations Committee. Mr. de Wetter is a broker for Coldwell Banker Legacy.

COVID-19 and flu vaccines can unite our community in combatting the virus

Since March, the El Paso community has learned to adapt and continues to do so in the face of the obstacles COVID-19 has placed in front of us. With all the uncertainty that 2020 offered, it is imperative in the new year, now more than ever, to stay healthy during the pandemic. Getting all recommended vaccines, including the flu vaccine, is one way to remain vigilant.

MCRT project to improve mental health system of care in Otero County

In late 2019, the City of Alamogordo and the Otero County Health Council, with support from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, set out to improve the Alamogordo area mental health system of care by implementing a Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) project. This large-scale coordinated effort required partnerships with healthcare system, crisis response providers and peer recovery specialists in the City of Alamogordo and within Otero County.
