Health Foundation awards new grants to support Healthy Eating and Active Living

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded 15 grants totaling more than $1.8 million under the Healthy Eating and Active Living Priority Area – HEAL Initiative. The purpose of the HEAL initiative is to make healthy eating and active living the easy choice for youth and their families.
Funded organizations are:
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger - $110,734.00
Converting El Paso Food Pantries to Client Choice Models
To educate and provide support to ten food pantries to convert to client-choice models to increase healthy food options in El Paso, TX.

PdN Complete Count Committee Launches New Programs to Reach Hard-To-Count Communities in El Paso

The Paso del Norte Complete Count Committee has partnered with Rep. César Blanco’s office, NALEO, ELP County, the League of Women Voters and more to train local volunteers for a Census Phone Banking program. Volunteers will be trained to call El Pasoans in hard-to-count (HTC) communities and ask if they have completed the Census, answer questions, and schedule appointments with the US Census Bureau, as needed. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending that everyone who is in a public setting wear a cloth face covering. This is especially necessary in areas where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g. grocery stores, pharmacies, public transit).
