The Paso del Norte Health Foundation is pleased to invite eligible agencies to submit Letters of Intent (LOIs) under the Paso del Norte Health Foundation’s Priority Area: Alcohol and Tobacco Control. After LOI review, selected agencies will be invited to submit a full proposal. Eligible applicants include nonprofit tax-exempt organizations, including churches and units of government, located in the Paso del Norte Region. The Health Information Exchange is now PHIX. Emily Hartmann is the executive director. And the number of partners and volume of patient records being collected and stored for exchange among medical providers is growing by the day.
“Right now the focus is on one-on-one conversations with physician practices and on-boarding major networks like the Veterans Administration and Department of Defense,” says Hartmann, who took the helm of PHIX in 2017.

The El Paso Behavioral Health Consortium will host a Behavioral Health Summit to share the Consortium’s accomplishments to date and goals going forward, provide a review of Mental Health & IDD Bills from the 85th Legislative Session, and launch the “Okay to Say” movement.

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation (Health Foundation) is partnering with UTEP’s Institute for Healthy Living to develop a route map for a county-wide linear trail in El Paso, Texas.
For the Health Foundation, trails and outdoor recreation opportunities are an excellent way for people to get outdoors, exercise and explore their neighborhoods. They also create important connections between amenities (parks, schools, businesses), can lead to economic development and improve overall quality of life.

To maintain your weight: Work your way up to 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity, or an equivalent mix of the two each week. Strong scientific evidence shows that physical activity can help you maintain your weight over time. A Healthy Paso del Norte 2016 was developed by the Coalition for a Healthy Paso del Norte to identify health priorities and establish objectives to improve health outcomes across the Paso del Norte region.
