New workshop to help allied health and fitness professionals work with obese patients

February 20, 2019

The Paso del Norte Institute for Health Living is delivering a series of workshops to train allied health and fitness professionals on evidence-based approaches for the management of obesity and its comorbidities. Participants gain basic knowledge of adaptations to traditional exercise programming for adults with obesity, and how to safely begin an exercise program. Newly designated parking for Playa Drain Trail users

The El Paso County Parks & Recreation Department has made parking easily available for those traveling to enjoy the Playa Drain Trail at the Ascarate Park entrance. Starting February 9, 2019, the County Tax office parking lot will be open daily from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. The designated parking lot is located on 301 Manny Martinez Drive.

New trail segment under construction along the Franklin Canal

February 14, 2019

Soon, individuals will have access to a new trail segment that will connect safe routes to neighborhood destinations and provide greater opportunities for increased physical activity.

This new trail segment will run along the Franklin Canal from Presa Place to Loop 375 in the Lower Valley and is part of the overall Paso del Norte Trail that will stretch 60-miles along El Paso County. TXDoT, El Paso County Water District, and the Paso del Norte Health Foundation are working together as part of the Alameda construction project.

Polling Campaign for Large-Scale Public Facilities Projects

The City of El Paso will receive approximately $2.6 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for the allocation of large-scale projects that will benefit low- and moderate-income persons. The community is being asked to provide feedback on which of these projects they would like to see developed in their neighborhoods. The polling campaign will continue until March 2, 2019.
