Three new grants awarded under Healthy Kids Priority Area

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded three new additional grants totaling more than $277,000 under the Healthy Kids Priority Area – IGNITE Initiative. These additional grants are part of 10 other grants that were awarded in November. The goal of the IGNITE Initiative is to improve a range of health outcomes by engaging disconnected youth in the region in high quality programs during out-of-school hours. The Health Foundation refers to “disconnected youth” as people between the ages of 5-17 who are not involved in out-of-school activities or not working.

El Paso Giving Time Update

As of Monday, December 16, 2019, nearly 32,647 hours have already been volunteered and more than $164,041 are on their way to nonprofit organizations in our community thanks to the El Paso Giving Time initiative presented by Walmart.

TTUHSC El Paso Dental School Update

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation (Health Foundation) joined leaders from El Paso’s higher education and healthcare communities in November to celebrate the approval of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) El Paso’s Doctor of Dental Medicine degree program by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), a key milestone on the road to opening the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine.

2020 Healthy Eating Active Living LOI - Extended Deadline

The LOI deadline has been extended to Wednesday, January 8, 2020.
The Paso del Norte Health Foundation seeks Letters of Intent (LOIs) from eligible organizations to promote the Health Foundation’s Strategic Plan for Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL). Specifically, the Health Foundation seeks LOIs for funding in one of the interest areas that help meet the goals identified in the HEAL Strategic Plan:

One Fund El Paso donation deadline is November 25
November 19, 2019
The last day to donate to the victims of the August 3 mass shooting in El Paso is Monday, November 25.
Donations may be made at onefundelpaso.org.
More than $10 million has been raised for the victims. Donations have come in from El Pasoans and people around the world since the shooting, which left 23 dead, more than 40 who have sought medical treatment for injuries, and hundreds suffering psychological trauma.
