2021 Annual Report - Investing in Positive Behaviors

In 2021, the Paso del Norte Health Foundation worked to promote health and prevent disease through grantmaking, collaboration, communications, and advocacy in three main priority areas – Healthy Living, Disease Prevention and Management and Health Leadership.
To promote positive behaviors that included healthy eating, physical activity, smoking/vaping prevention, and disconnected youth, the Health Foundation invested $3.5 million to support 44 grants under the Healthy Living priority area.

Foot and lower limb complications can be common in people with diabetes. Due to nerve damage and poor blood circulation in the legs and feet, individuals may not feel a foot injury or wound. If left untreated, an infection can occur and make it more difficult to heal.

Local artist brings to life the work done on smoking and vaping in our region

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation has partnered with local artist and graphic designer Vanessa Clark to artistically bring to life the work of the Tobacco Control Network and the Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Initiative.
A Smoke-Free Paso del Norte is an initiative of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, which was launched in 1999 to provide a comprehensive tobacco control initiative founded on CDC best practices.

Often, we hear people with diabetes have limited access to a dietitian or a healthcare professional who can walk them through the basics of understanding how to manage their diabetes. Men's Health Month - Explore the regional data on adult men 65+ who receive prevention services

In acknowledgement of Men’s Health Month, the Healthy Paso del Norte explores the data on adult men 65+ who have received recommended prevention services during the past year. Prevention services include: an influenza vaccination in the past year, a sigmoidoscopy within the past five-years and a fecal occult blood test within the past three-years, or a colonoscopy within the past 10 years.
