Health Foundation awards eight grants under the Healthy Eating Initiative

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded eight grants totaling more than $1 million under the Healthy Living priority area. These grants will support nutrition and cooking education programs, nutritious meals, and gardens that help children and adults in the border region live healthier lives.

Arbol de Vida - $142,594.38
Arbol de Vida Healthy Eating 2025-2026
To provide nutrition and gardening education and healthy meals and snacks to 100 children five days a week in Rancho Anapra in Ciudad Juárez, MX.

Border Partners - $135,007.40
Healthy Kids Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
To create healthy school environments through nutrition and gardening education for 300 students and nutritious meals for 700 students in Puerto Palomas, MX.

Common Threads - $161,952.97
Cooking and Nutrition Education Innovation for a Healthier El Paso
To implement interactive nutrition and cooking education programs for 400 students and 282 adults in El Paso County, TX.

Desert Spoon Food Hub - $111,138.50
Taster Space: Advancing Food Discovery and Exploration Among School-Aged Children for a Healthier Future
To provide the Taster Space nutrition education program resources to 600 families in El Paso, TX.

Kelly Center for Hunger Relief - $264,896.94
FreshStart Program
To provide case management and nutrition education to a minimum of 450 food-insecure adults in El Paso County, TX, to achieve goals toward a more food-secure life.

Organizacion Popular Independiente, A.C. - $66,577.64
Platos Amigables
To provide 150 children ages 3 to 12 with healthy meal and snack options and daily healthy food education activities in Juárez, MX.

Paso del Norte Children’s Development Center - $90,916.21
“Off to a Good Start: Eating our Way to a Healthy Life”
To provide the Sequential Oral Sensory Feeding program to at least 25 new patients with feeding difficulties and their families in El Paso, TX.

The Mustard Seed Café – A Community Café - $50,281.00
Amigos Healthy Eating Initiative
To teach healthy eating and gardening classes to at least 820 participants and provide appropriately portioned meals with vegetables at the café in El Paso, TX.
