
Health Foundation awards new grants for under Healthy Kids Initiative

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation has recently awarded 10 grants totaling over $1.1 million under its Healthy Kids Initiative. This Initiative aims to improve a range of health outcomes by engaging disconnected youth in the Paso del Norte region in high-quality programs during out-of-school hours. The Health Foundation refers to “disconnected youth” as people between the ages of 5-17 who lack involvement in out-of-school activities, employment, or access to a trusted adult, positive activities, and safe environments when school is not in session. By investing in these high-quality programs, the initiative seeks to foster healthier behaviors, stronger connections, and reduce risky behaviors among young people across the region.
Border Partners - $30,980.40 *Palomas Youth Center *To provide out-of-school and summer programming for at least 50 new disconnected youth 10-17 years old in Puerto Palomas, MX.
Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces, Inc. - $96,454.40 *Total Teen Takeover * To provide out-of-school and summer programming for at least 100 new disconnected youth and retain at least 50 current participants, 11-17-year-olds in Las Cruces, NM.
Centro de Asesoria y Promocion Juvenil, A.C. - $141,700.00 Espacios de desarrollo positivo para niñas, niños y jóvenes To implement out-of-school and summer programs in five centers for 1,300 disconnected youth ages 8-17 in Ciudad Juárez, MX.
Community Action Agency of Southern New Mexico - $157,491.30 Kids Can Youth Entrepreneurship Program: Sustaining and Strengthening Ties To provide out-of-school and summer entrepreneur programming for at least 500 disconnected youth ages 5-17 in Doña Ana, Luna, and Otero Counties, NM.
Creative Kids, Inc. - $198,935.00 Project ABLE (Art Brokers Learning Experiences) To recruit 275 disconnected youth ages 5-17 in San Elizario, TX, and the Gadsden ISD for a year-round arts program through the Artists in Residence (AIR) internship model.
Espacio Interactivo La Rodadora, A.C. - $41,875.39 Rodis Jr. To develop personal, social, and professional skills among 100 disconnected youth ages 15 and 17 in Ciudad Juárez, MX.
Friends of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks Wilderness Inc. - $74,250.00 *Moving Montañas * To provide out-of-school programming to 100 disconnected youth ages 5-17 through outdoor activities in Doña Ana County.
Organizacion Popular Independiente, A.C. - $164,013.22 NNA en Acción (Niñas, niños y adolescents en acción) To provide out-of-school programming to 1,000 disconnected youth, ages 5-17, through music, art, dance, and sports activities in the southwest and northeast of Ciudad Juárez, MX.
Salud y Desarrollo Comunitario de Cd. Juáreaz, A.C. - $77,074.80 Conectando con ValorArte 2025-2026 To provide out-of-school and summer programming to 350 disconnected youth, ages 6-17, in the western area of Ciudad Juárez, MX.
