Sandra Day Joins NMOST Board of Directors

April 15, 2025

Congratulations to Sandra Day, Program Officer at the Health Foundation, on her appointment to the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network (NMOST). Her leadership in the Healthy Kids Out-of-School Time Initiative will enhance her work in promoting healthy habits and improving outcomes by engaging disconnected youth.

NMOST is a collaborative effort dedicated to enhancing out-of-school extended learning programs, including before and afterschool, summer learning, and youth development initiatives.

Sandra’s involvement with NMOST will advance her work in OST and provide valuable insights into current trends, needs, and best practices in the field. Her expertise will be instrumental in building new partnerships and expanding access to high-quality OST opportunities across New Mexico.

This partnership is particularly significant as the Health Foundation serves the southern New Mexico region, including Luna, Otero, and Doña Ana counties. Sandra’s participation on the NMOST board will contribute to improving access to high-quality OST opportunities that foster social, emotional, and academic growth for children and youth across the region.

May Sagbakken, Executive Director of NMOST, stated, “As the Executive Director of NMOST, I am excited to have Sandra join our Board to help build and strengthen our organization and expand access to out-of-school time programming across New Mexico. Her enthusiasm and background in public health, as well as the Foundation’s many projects in the border region, will build new partnerships and opportunities for children and youth in parts of the state we have not been able to reach before.”

Sandra’s commitment to volunteering and community impact will positively impact this collaboration, the Healthy Kids Initiative, and the broader OST landscape in New Mexico.
