Paso del Norte Trail receives funding from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission

June 24, 2025

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission awarded the Paso del Norte Trail, a fund of the Paso del Norte Community Foundation, a $290,072 grant through the 2025 Recreational Trails Grant Program. The funds will be used for trail repairs, additional amenities, and intersection improvements on the Rio Grande River Park Trail in partnership with El Paso County.

The Paso del Norte Trail is a community-driven, collaborative effort initiated by the Paso del Norte Health Foundation to develop a 70-mile county-wide trail. The goal is to create a regionally significant landmark that promotes active transportation, preserves the history and culture of our region, highlights the Rio Grande River, supports economic development and ecotourism, provides educational and volunteer opportunities, and makes healthy living the easy choice for our unique, binational community.
