Foundation Awards New 2016 Grants to Support Healthy Eating and Active Living

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded 10 grants totaling more than $1.2 million under the Healthy Eating and Active Living Priority Area – HEAL Initiative. The purpose of the HEAL initiative is to make healthy eating and active living the easy choice for youth and their families.

Smoking ban at nearly all El Paso County facilities starting January 2017

October 19, 2016

On Monday, October 17, El Paso County Judge Veronica Escobar and Commissioners approved a policy that protects all those using County property and facilities from exposure to secondhand smoke. County Commissioner Carlos Leon along with the County’s Human Resources Department introduced a policy that would prohibit the use of tobacco products including cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, snuff, pipe tobacco, and electronic cigarettes.

FC Bravos join thousands for "Juárez en Accion"

On September 3 and 4, the Fundación Paso del Norte para la Salud y Bienestar invited the Juárez community to participate in Juárez en Acción – a weekend of activities designed to promote gender equality, a peaceful environment, and healthy eating and active living in the municipality of Ciudad Juárez.

Individuals were asked to be part of Juárez en Acción by signing up on the Fundación website to participate in any physical activity to improve their health or the community. More than 40 activities were reported throughout the city, mobilizing more than 2,400 people.

Ms. Gallinar comes to the IHL with extensive experience in program development and management. As Deputy Director of IHL, she will work with partners and community to lead applied healthy eating and active living program and policy initiatives in the Paso del Norte region.
