Foundation awards new grants for a Smoke Free Community

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded five grants totaling more than $666 thousand under the Tobacco and Alcohol Control Priority Area – A Smoke Free Paso del Norte initiative.
The purpose of A Smoke Free Paso del Norte initiative is to promote health and prevent disease in the Paso del Norte region by reducing smoking. Top priorities include preventing the initiation of smoking in youth, making cessation programs widely available, and promoting smoke-free environments. Effective Performance Management Training - REALIZE Leadership

Graduates from the REALIZE Leadership program participated in a hands-on practical session assessing their current performance management systems against best practices. The session provided insight and information in building an action plan for developing a Performance Management Strategy and System.
The goal of the REALIZE experience is to inspire already effective leaders to become transformational leaders for the benefit of the region’s health.

Mental Health Stigma Awareness Campaign

Through grant funding provided by the PdNHF to the County of El Paso under the Think.Change initiative, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office designed a three-pronged campaign to provide education to jail staff, inmates and family members to help address mental health.
Specifically, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office:

The Paso del Norte Foundation (PDN) is pleased to announce the election of Carolyn L. Mora as the new 2016-17 PDN Board Chair. She is a certified public accountant and owner of Carolyn L. Mora Financial Services.
Steve Lauterbach was appointed as Vice-Chair and Chair-Elect. He is a certified public accountant and managing shareholder at Lauterbach, Borschow and Company.

Health Foundation announces New Board Chair and Members

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation is pleased to announce the election of Jose Prieto, M.D. as the new 2016-17 Board Chair. Dr. Prieto has served on the board since 2011 and is a pediatric physician in private practice at Partners in Pediatrics.
Sharon Butterworth was appointed as Vice-Chair and Chair-Elect. She has served on the board since 2011 and is a community advocate on issues related to mental health.

PdN HIE begins receiving data from The Hospitals of Providence

The Paso del Norte Health Information Exchange (PDN HIE) announced today that The Hospitals of Providence became the first organization to contribute data to the regional health information system.
The PDN HIE gives physicians and other community-based health care providers greater access to important health information about their patients.
