PdNHF staff support active living

December 13, 2016

Staff from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation took time from their daily work schedule to try out the SunCycle Bike share program in Downtown El Paso. The group took 30 minutes and rode their bikes around the Magoffin area. The use of the bikes is part of the staff wellness program that was implemented to support active living.

Program addresses the root causes of hunger and poor nutrition

Wouldn’t it be great to have someone follow you through a grocery store and assist you with information and support on how to live a healthy and productive lifestyle?

With support from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation’s Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) Initiative, the Kelly Memorial Food Pantry’s Fresh Start program is doing this and more. First city in Texas to adopt civil Social Host Ordinance

December 13, 2016

On December 6th, the City Council of El Paso became the first city in Texas to adopt a civil Social Host Ordinance that will hold adults accountable for providing an environment where underage parties take place. This ordinance will provide law enforcement with an additional mechanism that will help prevent some of these parties and will help them hold people accountable when they do happen. The intent of the ordinance is to protect public health and safety, and it will work well as a community preventive strategy.

Engaging disconnected youth in the Arts

Creative Kids, with support from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, is at it again. Throughout 2016, the award-winning non-profit has been engaging “disconnected” youth in Fabens, Texas with Project ABLE, an after-school program focused on arts-based projects such as painting on canvas, silk screening, graphic design, printmaking and ceramics.
