New member to the Health Foundation

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation is pleased to welcome Jane Enriquez to the Health Foundation team. Jane is the first to greet you when visiting our offices. She is also responsible for scheduling the conference rooms available to nonprofit organizations, among various other tasks.

Foundation Staff Give Backpacks

For the second year, the staff of the Paso del Norte Foundation and Paso del Norte Health Foundation gave back to the community by collecting backpacks and schools supplies for the Segundo Barrio Backpack and School Supply Drive.

The Downtown Management District, Central Business Association, Sacred Heart Church and Emajj Public Relations & Marketing organized the drive and called upon businesses in the area to provide support. Building Layers of Wellness & Financial Responsibility

The Health Foundation 2017 with $241.7 million in assets, up from $130 million in 1996, keeping administrative expenses below 1% of foundation assets and bringing total grantmaking since inception to nearly $164 million.

Building layers of wellness is a team effort. We rely on the hard work from our grantees and community partners to ensure that the residents of our region have the knowledge, resources and skills to live happy, healthy and productive lives.

In 2017, the Paso del Norte Health Foundation funded 83 organizations for more than $9.1 million in five priority areas: Healthy Eating and Active Living, Tobacco and Alcohol Prevention, Mental Health and Emotional Well-being, Healthy Kids and Health Leadership.

The Eat Well Otero program provides restaurants with healthy menu options

Rachel’s Fine Dining in Alamogordo has a lunch menu that offers more than six appetizers, salads, sides and entrees that meet Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) guidelines. The fine dining restaurant has also added six reduced-portion meals.

The Hitch-N-Post BBQ, meanwhile, has added four entrees that meet the nutritionist recommendations and two healthy side dishes. It also offers four reduced-portion meals on its menu.

Creative Kids to showcase Playa Drain Trail student artwork at Airport

Creative Kids, a grantee of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, was recently chosen to showcase artwork in the Art Windows of El Paso Gallery exhibit at the El Paso International Airport. The Art Windows exhibit is located in the main floor by Carlos and Mickey’s restaurant. This exhibit will feature the work of Ysleta Independent School District students that were selected from area schools (Cedar Grove Elementary, Riverside High School, Riverside Middle School, Ascarate Elementary, Tejas School of Choice) to create murals that will be fabricated and installed in several locations along…
