In 1995, the Health Foundation was founded with the proceeds from the sale of Providence Memorial Hospital to Tenet Healthcare Corporation. For the lives she touched, contributions she made, and legacy she leaves
Myrna served as CEO of YWCA El Paso del Norte Region for more than 30 years, growing the organization from an annual budget of $150,000 when she joined in 1970 to over $35 million when she retired in 2002, making it the largest YWCA in the country. However, those numbers do little to actually illustrate the impact Myrna had on YWCA and the El Paso community. She was an incredible leader who is largely responsible for creating the YWCA we all know today.

Our hearts are heavy with the passing of our former CEO, Myrna J. Deckert. Myrna served as CEO of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation from 2007-2016.
She was an extraordinary leader committed to improving health, education, economic development, and quality of life in our region. While at the Health Foundation, Myrna developed a Regional Framework for Health to promote health and prevent disease.
