Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) El Paso recently commemorated its partnership with the Paso del Norte Health Foundation and health partners across the region with a sculpture by El Paso artist Julio Sanchez De Alba. The Health Foundation awards new grants for start of 2022

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded 14 grants totaling more than $2 million under the Healthy Living and Health Leadership priority areas. The Healthy Living, Disease Prevention & Management, and Health Leadership are the three priority areas that drive our work, in partnership with organizations that implement initiatives and programs to improve health in the region.

$743,000 was awarded to eight organizations as part of the Healthy Kids Initiative and $169,000 to two organizations under A Smoke Free Paso del Norte Initiative.

Healthy Paso del Norte March Health Indicator – Food Environment

March 18, 2022

This month’s Healthy Paso del Norte website indicator combines two measures of food access: the percentage of the population that is low-income and has low access to a grocery store, and the percentage of the population that did not have access to a reliable source of food during the past year (food insecurity). The index ranges from 0 (worst) to 10 (best) and equally weights the two measures.

The El Paso County is hosting four community listening sessions to engage the public in identifying high priority needs in our community.

The El Paso County Commissioner’s Court plans to invest $9.7 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for nonprofit organizations to help meet identified needs. The sessions will allow residents to provide input on community needs and services, which will help the Commissioners Court develop a Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFO) for nonprofit organizations.
