  • Do respect that the quitter is in charge. This is their lifestyle change and their challenge, not yours.

Social Host Ordinance went into effect on June 6, 2017

A Social Host Ordinance targeting underage drinking parties went into effect June 6 in El Paso. Growing out of a city effort led by the Alcohol Impact Network to reduce alcohol problems in El Paso, the ordinance is the first in Texas to use “best practice” methods to discourage social hosts from providing alcohol to underage persons. The new ordinance enables law enforcement to impose a civil fine – like a traffic ticket – on the spot if called to break up an underage drinking party. Health Foundation announces new Board Chair and Members

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation is pleased to announce the election of Sharon Butterworth as the new 2017-18 Board Chair. Ms. Butterworth has served on the board since 2013 and is a community advocate on mental health issues.

Hector Retta was appointed as Vice-Chair and Chair-Elect. He has served on the board since 2014 and is Vice Chairman and CEO of Capital Bank.

The Health Foundation also elected three new members to the Board of Directors – Ernesto Avila with Capital Bank, Ed Escudero with High Desert Capital and Susan Melendez with Borderplex Alliance.
