Funding to benefit the region’s mental health

July 15, 2024

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation is pleased to announce a 3-year, $1.5 million grant for the Paso del Norte Center (PdN Center) at the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute to expand mental health and emotional well-being strategies and leverage the institute’s relationships with state and federal governments to bring new investments and opportunities to improve the region’s mental health.

Since its establishment in 2021, the PdN Center has played a pivotal role in supporting the Paso del Norte Health Foundation’s Mental Health Initiative, supporting collaborative efforts like the El Paso Behavioral Health Consortium, providing technical support to Health Foundation grantees, and assisting with grant writing and legislative funding requests.

Specifically, the PdN Center has supported efforts to draw down significant funding for mental health projects in El Paso, including $22 million from SAMSHA and $50 million for a new psychiatric state hospital. The PdN Center also supports the Health Foundation by coordinating consortia councils and meetings, providing policy briefings, and enhancing stakeholder communication.
