Sandra Day brings more than 15 years of experience in the public health sector, spanning nonprofit and federal service. As a Program Officer at the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, she leads the Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being initiative and the Smoke Free initiative, overseeing grant portfolios and collaborating with community partners to strengthen systems, advance equity, and improve population-level health outcomes across the region.

Sandra holds a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Hispanic and Border Health and a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from the University of Texas at El Paso. She is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), a nationally recognized credential awarded by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing that reflects advanced-level competency, leadership, and sustained professional practice in health education and promotion. This credential underscores her expertise in evidence-based program design, evaluation, policy-informed practice, and systems-level health improvement.

In addition to her professional role, Sandra serves as a Board Member of the New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network (NMOST), where she contributes public health, equity, and youth development expertise to support high-quality out-of-school-time systems across New Mexico.

Passionate about community impact, Sandra is committed to improving mental health, emotional well-being, and preventive health outcomes, particularly for communities facing structural and access-related barriers. As a former military spouse, she is also a strong advocate for veterans and military families and volunteers with organizations that support the military community and youth.

Outside of work, Sandra enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with her husband and children.
