Coat Collection for Migrants and Refugees

The Paso del Norte Community Foundation and the Paso del Norte Health Foundation are partnering with local drop-off locations to collect new and gently used winter coats for migrants and refugees being supported by our local community. With freezing temperatures in our region and the many destinations, winter coats have identified by service providers as an important immediate need.

Walking the Playa de Luminarias

Thank you to everyone who attended the Playa de Luminarias trail walk earlier this month - a fun, free event with prizes and activities for the whole family. Participants walked along the illuminated Playa Drain Trail between Yarbrough and Independence Drive, serenaded by mariachi music, with visits from elves, the Grinch and much more. The Health Foundation awards new grants under mental health & emotional well-being

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded 11 grants totaling more than $1.6 million under the Disease Prevention and Management Priority Area Mental Health and Emotional Well-being Initiative. The Health Foundation works in partnership with organizations to promote emotional well-being, reduce stigma and negative bias, improve access to timely treatment, and increase community support and inclusion to decrease social isolation and improve culture of support and acceptance.
