Recently, the REALIZE Executive cohort participated in an off-site retreat in Marfa, Texas. Join us in congratulating Diana Seabrooks on her recent promotion to Human Resource Administrator/Executive Assistant for the Paso del Norte Health Foundation and Paso del Norte Community Foundation. Diana will lead human resources administration and provide executive support to the Board of Directors and CEO.

Before her promotion, Diana was an accounting support assistant with the Foundations and recently celebrated her one-year work anniversary.

Investing $4.91 million to promote Healthy Living in 2022

In 2022, the Health Foundation invested $4.91 million to support 55 grants under the Healthy Living priority area. This priority area supports efforts that promote positive behaviors to prevent disease, including healthy eating, physical activity, smoking/vaping prevention, and positive opportunities for youth.

Community outreach students receive certification

In partnership with the University of Texas at El Paso, the Health Foundation recently presented certificates of completion for the Diabetes Awareness Training Program for Community Outreach students working towards a Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree at UTEP.

Learn the signs and symptoms of diabetes and if you are at risk

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation has partnered with the El Paso Center for Diabetes to create two new resources to help individuals learn more about the signs and symptoms of diabetes and if they are at risk.

At Risk for Diabetes? Take the Risk Test

If you feel like you may be at risk of diabetes, take the Risk Test. By answering a few questions, it will estimate the percentage of risk you may have. The questions include what your age, gender, race is and symptoms you may be experiencing. Such as increased thirst, urination and more. At the end of the test, you are given a score from 0 to 10, 10 being more at risk for diabetes. The El Paso Center for Diabetes and the Paso del Norte Health Foundation have partnered to create a new campaign to help the community identify the signs and symptoms of diabetes.

The new video campaign shares how sometimes unnoticeable issues can grow into a bigger problem. Frequent peeing, increased hunger and thirst can all be indicators of diabetes. Knowing the signs and symptoms and speaking to a physician early on can help spot diabetes sooner and prevent it from becoming a larger problem. REALIZE Board provides workshops and training sessions designed to strengthen nonprofit governance in our region.
