Shift+ partners to hold Responsive Beverage Service training to local businesses

February 14, 2018

As part of an effort to reduce binge drinking, the YMCA and the Rio Grande Safe Communities will hold a FREE Responsive Beverage Service (RBS) training for businesses that sell and serve alcohol. The training covers Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission (TABC) seller-server guidelines and operational practices that support responsible alcohol service including alcohol sales to minors and intoxicated people.

Monday, March 5, 2018
Region 19
6611 Boeing Dr.
El Paso, Texas

Session 1:
9 a.m. to noon for on-premise locations (i.e., bars, restaurants, lounges)

Session: 2:
1 – 4 p.m. for off-premise location (i.e., convenience stores, groceries/markets)

Local businesses that complete the training are issued certificates and license or permits that would assist if any TABC codes are violated.

Alcohol is the most commonly used drug among youth in El Paso. Binge drinking among El Paso adults rose substantially from 2002 to 2012. RBS training has been shown to improve server knowledge and self-reported service behaviors.

Seating is limited. RSVP as soon as possible or calling 915-777-1641. For more information about the training, contact Jeremy Jordan at Jeremy.jordan@elpasoymca.org.

Shift + is an initiative of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation and managed by the YMCA of El Paso to create environments that contribute to the reduction of underage drinking, binge drinking and associated harms.
