Sharing valuable information with school districts on the dangers of vaping and tobacco use

June 22, 2023

School districts in and around El Paso County participated in a Smoke-Free Training provided by the Paso del Norte Health Foundation and Action for Healthy Kids. National youth tobacco prevention and intervention experts from the American Heart Association, the Truth Initiative, and Stanford Division of Adolescent Medicine shared available programs and lessons learned that could be integrated to address the causes of vaping/tobacco use. Local guest speakers provided insight into THC liquid in electronic cigarettes and its consequences in Texas and shared the power of effective messaging to promote compliance with tobacco-free policies. Educators also discussed what vaping looks like in their schools and their ideas on how to prevent it.
