Paso del Norte Trail Master Plan receives award
December 14, 2021
The Paso del Norte Health Foundation was recently recognized at the New Mexico Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (NMASLA) Design Award Gala in November for the development of the Master Plan for the Paso del Norte Trail.
The 68-mile trail stretches the length of El Paso County from its border with New Mexico to the agricultural areas of the Lower Valley connecting neighborhoods along the route to school, parks, worksites and other destinations, providing a great opportunity for increased physical activity for residents and visitors.
The Trail Master Plan was awarded based on the following criteria: the quality of the analysis and planning effort; context; environmental sensitivity and sustainability; likelihood of successful implementation; and value to the client, the public and other designers.
The Paso del Norte Health Foundation partnered with Sites Southwest and Alta Planning + Design to develop the Master Plan with input from the community.
The NMASLA is a statewide professional organization open to landscape architects and their associates, including students in the graduate landscape architecture program at the University of New Mexico.
