Now What? Pop-Up Events at Vista Markets to Help Individuals with Diabetes
April 19, 2022
The Paso del Norte Health Foundation and El Paso Center for Diabetes have collaborated with Vista Central Market and Vista Horizon Market to promote the Now What? diabetes education campaign.
The campaign aims to assist newly diagnosed individuals with prediabetes or diabetes with informative resources and access to diabetes education classes in the Paso del Norte region through www.epdiabetes.org/now-what.
When visiting Vista Central Market Zaragoza and Vista Horizon Market, shoppers can find life-sized cut-outs of local diabetes champions that direct them to diabetes self-management education classes, diabetes prevention programs, cooking classes, and more diabetes-related resources in their area. Shoppers can also find floor stickers with QR codes that can be scanned to access a pantry guide, meal planning tips, healthy eating tips, and information on diabetes management.
Recently, two Now What? pop-up events were held at both Vista Market locations. Each pop-up event provided the public with information on diabetes self-management education classes, a live cooking demonstration of mushroom pozole, nutrition advice from registered dietitians, and diabetes resources available through Now What? The mushroom pozole was prepared with ingredients from Vista Markets to encourage shoppers to cook healthy meals at home. Special thanks to Vista Markets from the Health Foundation and El Paso Center for Diabetes for their support and promotion of Now What? Diabetes. This campaign will be available to the public at the Vista Central Market Zaragoza and Vista Horizon Market until the end of the month.
