Kelly Center for Hunger Relief showcases its FreshStart program
December 13, 2023
The Feeding America senior leadership group recently visited El Paso and toured the Kelly Center for Hunger Relief to learn about the FreshStart program and other nutrition programs offered by the Center.
The FreshStart program is funded by the Health Foundation’s Healthy Eating Initiative and provides case management to individuals seeking economic self-sufficiency. The program is free for participants, serves more than 300 individuals annually, and is a national model for providing “More Than Food” to those experiencing hunger and food insecurity. “We are happy that Feed America was in El Paso to learn about the great work Kelly Center is doing in our community,” said Jana Renner, senior program officer for the Paso del Norte Health Foundation. “The FreshStart program is a testament to our goal of prioritizing healthy eating through health education, policy, and promotion.”
In addition to case management, FreshStart offers a variety of programs and classes to individuals willing and motivated to move their lives from depending on food assistance to self-sufficiency.
