With a little creativity, you can find ways to make Halloween fun, spooky, and a little healthier too.

Here are some tips from the American Heart Association to help you and your family enjoy a healthy Halloween:

  • Have a healthy meal BEFORE heading out to trick-or-treat.
  • Choose smaller candy collection containers.
  • Walk from door to door instead of driving. Bring a bottle of water and a flashlight, and wear comfortable shoes.
  • Check expiration dates and inspect all edibles before allowing children to eat them.
  • Use this opportunity to talk to your kids about making smart eating choices.
