Health Foundation awards new grants to support programs in the region

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded 10 grants totaling more than $503,000 under the Behavioral Health Consortium and Health Leadership priority areas.

Funded organizations are:

El Paso Behavioral Health Consortium

Borderland Rainbow Center - $14,670.00
Creating Culturally Competent Services for Deaf Clients
To provide the Deaf Cultural Competency Training project for over 300 mental health professionals in the greater El Paso area to reduce negative bias and improve competency in provision of services to Deaf clients, thereby lowering the barriers to access that these patients already endure.

Health Leadership – REALIZE Board

United Way of El Paso County - $96,240.00
REALIZE Board Training Program
To strengthen nonprofit board members’ governance capacity thereby promoting success of nonprofit organizations in El Paso, TX and southern New Mexico.

Health Leadership – COVID-19 Recovery Grants

CASA of El Paso Inc - $67,000.00
CASA of El Paso – COVID-19 Recovery
To hire an additional Advocate Supervisor and on-board 30 advocates to prepare for a case surge in El Paso, TX.

Center Against Sexual and Family Violence Inc. - $33,039.22
Technology & Communication Solutions for Survivors Amid COVID-19
To address immediate needs and prepare to address future needs for domestic and sexual violence survivors, the grant supports technology upgrades and communication plans in El Paso, TX.

Child Crisis Center of El Paso - $60,058.99
CCCEP COVID-19 Recovery and Preparedness Plan
To serve children who are COVID positive while keeping other children and staff safe; to function remotely; and to strengthen board governance, the Child Crisis Center will establish an isolation room, enhance technology, and engage in board coaching at their El Paso, TX location.

El Paso Human Services Inc. - $54,336.00
Recovery and Transforming into the Digital World
To assist in organizational recovery from COVID-19 and preparedness for post pandemic conditions or future outbreaks by upgrading technology, updating information tracking policies and practices, and supporting mobile communications in El Paso, TX.

Programa Companeros, A.C. - $49,152.40
Unificando esfuerzos para la respuesta efectiva a la pandemia de COVID-19
To assist in organizational recovery from COVID-19 and preparedness for post pandemic conditions or future outbreaks by providing personal protective equipment (PPE), HIV rapid tests, technology upgrades, mobile support for staff, and vending machines to help connect individuals at risk for HIV with services and supports to prevent the spread of disease in Ciudad Juárez, MX.

Rio Grande Cancer Foundation – $78,870.00
Transforming Cancer Services in the Age of COVID-19
To assist in organizational recovery from COVID-19 and preparedness for post pandemic conditions or future outbreaks by implementing an online Cancer Help Center for program and service delivery to cancer patients in El Paso, TX.

The Arc of El Paso - $9,005.00
Helping People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Respond to COVID-19
To assist in organizational recovery from COVID-19 and preparedness for post pandemic conditions or future outbreaks by supporting programming for individuals and family members dealing with I/DD challenges in El Paso, TX.

YMCA of Greater El Paso, TX & Rio Grande Valley - $40,780.00
Y Connect
To assist in organizational recovery from COVID-19 and preparedness for post pandemic conditions or future outbreaks by investing in technology infrastructure to allow for virtual and hybrid youth and adult fitness programming in El Paso, TX.
