Establishing goals and objectives for a Regional School Health Advisory Council

March 19, 2024

Recently, 40 members from eight area School Health Advisory Councils (SHAC) came together to establish goals and objectives for a Regional SHAC. The Health Foundation, in partnership with Action for Healthy Kids and area school districts, helped spearhead this meeting to identify challenges and opportunities in school health policies and practices in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and nursing services.

A SHAC is a majority group of parents appointed by each school district to assist the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in health education instructions. They play an essential role in strengthening the connection between health and learning. Click here to learn more.
