Community meetings to provide feedback on Downtown Deck Plaza

February 17, 2023

The Downtown Deck Plaza Foundation and the City of El Paso want your feedback as they study the feasibility of creating a new community space over Interstate 10 in Downtown El Paso. The proposed goal is to create a space as unique as El Paso’s people, natural beauty, culture, history, and neighborhoods.

Members of the public are invited to learn more about the proposed project and provide their feedback to help create a space that will become an amenity for the entire Paso del Norte region while reconnecting neighborhoods historically separated by Interstate 10.

Open house meetings have been scheduled from 4:30pm - 6:30pm at the following locations:

  • Monday, February 27: Pebble Hills Regional Command Center, 10780 Pebble Hills Ste. A
  • Tuesday, February 28: Westside Regional Command Center, 4801 Osborne Dr.
  • Wednesday, March 1: Blue Flame Building, 304 Texas Ave., 17th floor

For those who cannot attend one of the meetings, but would like to provide feedback, please visit DowntownDeckPlaza.org and use the online engagement tools to provide feedback to planners. A second round of community meetings will be scheduled later this Spring to share results with the community.

The feasibility study, now underway, includes planning and visioning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, structural assessments, and market and economic feasibility assessments of constructing a deck plaza.

The proposed deck plaza has potential to provide a green space and other amenities over the portion of I-10 that runs through Downtown El Paso, potentially reconnecting downtown neighborhoods on either side and creating a regional amenity for residents and visitors.
