Carnival fun along the Playa Drain Trail
May 23, 2023
Families recently gathered along the Playa Drain Trail by Mimosa Avenue and Balsam Drive to enjoy some Carnival-themed fun.
Several booths were set up along the trail with food and fun activities such as corn hole, ring toss, horseshoe, mystery fishing, and a photo booth. Clowns entertained children with balloon shaping and magic. The event is part of an overall approach to making residents aware of the trail and the benefits it can have on one’s health. The Health Foundation has worked in collaboration with other organizations to develop a 68-mile county-wide trail in El Paso County. The goal is to create a regional landmark that promotes active transportation, preserves the history and culture of the region, supports economic development, and makes healthy living the easy choice for our bi-national community. The entire 8.3-mile trail from Ascarate Park to Capistrano Park will be completed by the end of 2024. Learn more about the trail at pasodelnortetrail.org or visit them on Facebook at pasodelnortetrail to stay connected with upcoming events and activities.
