A Pawsitive fun walk along the Paso del Norte Trail

On a beautiful Saturday morning, more than 50 individuals laced up their walking shoes, grabbed their dog(s) leash for a pawsitive fun walk along the Paso del Norte Trail.

The Paso del Norte Trail hosted its first event of the year – Paws on the Trail. Participants gathered at the William W. Cowan Swimming Pool on Independence Drive to stock up on doggie treats before heading east along the Playa Drain Trail to Ysleta High School and back. The three-mile fun walk aimed to provide exercise for the attendees and their four-legged companions and showcase the beauty and accessibility and community spirit of the Paso del Norte Trail. “Seeing the community come together to enjoy our beautiful trail with their pets was truly heartwarming,” said Iberty Trevino, Friends of the Trail Coordinator. “The Paws on the Trail event highlights the trail as a resource for promoting healthy lifestyles and strengthening community bonds. We look forward to another successful Paws on the Trail event later this year and future events to continue making the Paso del Norte Trail a trail for everyone.” The Paso del Norte Trail is a community-driven, collaborative effort initiated by the Health Foundation to develop a 68-mile county-wide trail. The goal is to create a regionally significant landmark that promotes active transportation, preserves the history and culture of our region, highlights the Rio Grande River, supports economic development and ecotourism, provides educational and volunteer opportunities, and makes healthy living the easy choice for our unique, binational community.
