Building Leadership, Advancing Health

July 28, 2025

In 2024, the Paso del Norte Health Foundation invested $5.34 million to support 32 grants under the Health Leadership priority area—empowering leaders, organizations, and partnerships to build a healthier region.

This priority area focuses on strengthening leadership across nonprofit organizations, boards of directors, and executive teams. It also supports strategic partnerships and timely, catalytic investments to improve health outcomes in our binational, tri-state region.

Highlights from 2024 include:

  • Investing in Impact: Managed a diverse portfolio of 32 grants, including MacKenzie Scott-related grants such as $4.5 million for UTEP Health, $5 million for Texas Tech’s Fox Cancer Center, approximately $500,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces, and $3 million for the Diabetes Center’s service expansion.
  • Board and Executive Development: Partnered with United Way to deliver REALIZE Board Training across El Paso and southern New Mexico—reaching over 45 organizations and 60 individuals. The REALIZE Executive Programs engaged 34 leaders in both the U.S. and Cd. Juárez.
  • Preparedness and Collaboration: Strengthened internal crisis response by training staff on emergency guidelines and working in coordination with the City-County Office of Emergency Management.

These collective efforts are part of a growing Mosaic of Impact. Learn more in our 2024 Annual Report at pdnhf.org.
