2026-2027 Healthy Kids Letter Of Intent (LOI)

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation (Health Foundation) seeks Letters of Intent (LOIs) from eligible organizations to promote the Health Foundation’s Strategic Plan for the Healthy Kids Initiative.

What We Will Fund

Specifically, the Health Foundation seeks LOIs to increase the number of disconnected youth ages 5-17 who participate in out-of-school time (OST) programs. Disconnected youth refers to children ages 5-17 years old who do not have a safe environment, a positive activity, and a trusted adult outside of school. Connected youth are involved in out-of-school time activities in a safe place with a caring adult. Connected youth also tend to avoid situations and behaviors that compromise health while engaging in activities that promote health.

The Health Foundation seeks LOIs for OST programs that serve youth between the ages of 5-17 years old and:

  • list text here. Focus on recruiting and retaining disconnected youth,
  • Serve at least 100 new disconnected youth,
  • Offer summer programming,
  • Incorporate and strengthen the 6 Cs of Youth Development: Competence, Confidence, Character, Caring, Connection, and Contribution as defined in the strategic plan,
  • Maintain a focus on increasing connection for youth within the region,
  • Offer skill-building opportunities for disconnected high school youth, and
  • Address and incorporate healthy behaviors and environments.

Key Dates

Deadlines & Schedule

  • Letters of intent are due via the Health Foundation’s online application system by September 30, 2025.
  • Invitations for full proposals will be announced by October 30, 2025.
  • Invited applicants are encouraged to meet with the Senior Program Officer before submitting a full proposal.
  • Full proposals are due by December 9, 2025.
  • The projected funding cycle is up to 12 months and starts April 1, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants include nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations, including churches and units of government, located in the Paso del Norte Region. For more information about grant guidelines, please see the Paso del Norte Health Foundation website, www.pdnhf.org.

Service Region

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation operates in a unique binational environment spanning two countries and three states. This region serves the 2.4 million people living in El Paso and Hudspeth Counties in far west Texas, Doña Ana, Luna, and Otero Counties in southern New Mexico, and the municipality of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
