Community Resilience

To provide leadership for crisis response and other emergent health needs in the region. In difficult times, such as with the 2019 El Paso shooting and the emergence of COVID-19, the Health Foundation thoughtfully responded in collaboration with community organizations and with funding. We are committed to continued involvement when crisis hits and are preparing for an even more efficient response.

In partnership with the County of El Paso, the Health Foundation founded the “Reduce the Risk” campaign to engage more than 70 promotoras across the region to promote health and safety messaging, vaccine registration support, and information around financial and economic support services. The Health Foundation has also awarded more than $3 million to 35 nonprofit organizations to support their preparedness, recovery and transformation through the pandemic.

Expanding the opportunity for individuals to live healthy lives

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation ended the year in 2020 with $256.3 million in assets, up from $130 million in 1995, keeping administrative expenses below 1 percent of foundation assets and bringing total grantmaking since inception to nearly $211 million.
